“And
God said, ‘Let us make man in our image’.” Genesis 1:26
At the beginning of mankind’s
existence, we were made in the image of God. With Adam’s fall we had that image
marred by sin from the point of conception. But Jesus Christ came to restore
Adam’s fallen race and make all things new. He said to Nicodemus, “Ye must be born again.” We must be
remade in the image of God as at the beginning of our existence. Once restored
through His grace and made into His child, we should desire to live according
to the new image He has placed in us.
Paul likes the phrase, “That ye henceforth no longer live” as we
did when our life was bound up in our sinful nature. Then Paul says, “But put on” the new nature of Christ in
you. We cannot do this by ourselves; we must let Christ do it in us by our
yieldedness to the Holy Spirit who directs our steps in holy living. Then we
can sing, “From glory to glory He’s changing me” back into the image of
God.
Dear Father, Let Your image be seen
in me for Your glory sake. Amen
