The Promise to the Fallen

It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Gen. 3:15
Our verse today is taken from God’s curse upon Satan. Satan would damage the seed of woman, but the seed of woman would prevail and slay the serpent. It is not the seed of man that will gain the victory over sin and death, over curse and pain, over sorrow and suffering. It is the seed of woman – the Christ of Virgin Birth.
How badly did Eve feel to fall into temptation and then be accused by her husband as well? God did not spare her His indictment for believing Satan instead of Him. But what we do see is that as she was the first to give into temptation, she is also the first to hear a promise. God is like that. He wants us to know that he cares for us. We all fall into temptation, if Eve hadn’t Adam would have. But with sin there is always the promise of the Savior. God has never changed that pattern. Because we sin He sent His Son to die for us. The promise continues.

Dear Father, Thank You for Your love and fulfilled promises. Amen.
