“Beloved, when I gave
all diligence to write to you,” Jude 3
What are we diligent about? Are we diligent about the practice
of our faith? Do we faithfully make it to church each week? Do we faithfully
read our Bibles and pray each day? Do we faithfully give of our time, talents,
and money to get the work of Christ done? Are we more diligent to these things
than we are to sports, entertainment, seeking pleasure, or seeking idleness?
Our bosses certainly want us to be diligent to our jobs.
Jesus is our boss, the highest boss we have. When He told
Jude to write this letter, Jude was diligent to do it. He didn’t put it off
until a more convenient time when he had nothing else to entertain his mind or
body. He got to it. As a parent we sometimes tell our children, “snap to it”. We
want them to be diligent. Christ wants us to be diligent as well. He has things
for us to do, and like Jude, we need to be diligently doing them.
Dear Father, Help me maintain the right focus in my rightful
diligence to You. Amen
