“Who deny the only
Lord God.” Jude 4
Who is God? That would seem to be an easy question. Any
primary student should know the answer. The ancient confession, The Apostles’
Creed, has answered that question clearly for over a thousand years. Various
earlier creeds declared the same thing going all the way back to the earliest
documents of post-apostolic times. So, who is God?
“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and
earth.” That is as simple and clear and true as you can get. But wait a minute.
What if we don’t believe in the creation story? What if we believe that we are
the product of evolution? Then we don’t believe that God is our creator. Then
we deny the first principle of Scripture that “In the beginning, God created
the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
Who are the ones who have crept in unawares who Jude says
are already marked out for destruction? Those who deny the simplest and easiest
statement of Scripture. Who is God? He is our Creator.
Than You, Heavenly Father, for making us and loving Your
creation. Amen
