Victory Starts at Home

“Blessed above women shall be Jael the wife of Heber, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.” Judges 5:24

Jael’s part in Scripture reveals a timeless truth for all women. Jael brought about a major victory for Israel. She slew the enemy of the people of God. She is exalted in the song of Deborah and Jael. So what is so special about her great victory? Jael did not fight on the battlefield. She won the victory at home. “Blessed shall she be above women in the tent.”

My wife always quotes the adage, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world”. Every day the enemy of God’s people comes to our house. He sneaks in through the TV or the radio, through books or friends, or however the serpent can find his way in. Then he is accosted, he is abused, he is attacked, his head is beaten in by my wife as she teaches the truth to the children, trains them in righteousness, sets them an example for godliness. Just like Jael she wins victory in the home.

Dear Father, Bless the women who win the battle for truth in the home. Amen.
