Our Job is not to Moan but to Share Christ

For the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.” Genesis 15:16
Let’s look for a minute at the sins of the Amorites. They were grossly immoral idolaters who reveled in their sins and ignored the repeated warnings of God. They practiced infanticide (abortion), were ritually given to fornication and homosexuality, and believed that neither incest nor adultery were wrong. God still gave them four hundred years to listen to His warnings and to repent before they were destroyed. But He did declare that their judgment was sure.
We can see parallels to the Amorites spreading across western civilization, and it rightly disturbs us to see it so. We know that the unrepentant will be judged. What we too often neglect is that God gave them time to hear and repent. That is still what He is waiting for today. He wants us to bear the Good News of Jesus Christ and rescue people from the certain judgment of the sin. Wringing our hands is not our job. Telling others of God’s grace is.

Dear Father, Help me to be a lighthouse in a dark world. Amen.
