“But
Rachel was beautiful and well-favored.” Gen. 29:17
All that glitters is not gold and
all that is beautiful is not good. We tend to think differently than we should
about appearances. God told Samuel not to look on the outside but the inside.
Jacob was not willing to do so. Rachel was all it! Beautiful in face and well-favored
in form. What more could a man want? That is the man’s problem; ladies you have
your own. If you think that what Rachel had is what you need; think again.
Rachel was a thorn in Jacob’s side!
She was pampered and spoiled. She was gorgeous on the outside and empty on the
inside. She was an idolater by birth and didn’t abandon them when she got
married to God’s man. She was a thief and a liar. But, oh boy, was she
beautiful. Proverbs says, “Favour (charm)
is
deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the
LORD, she shall be praised.” Men, seek the right thing, a godly woman; and
ladies, seek to be the right thing.
Dear Father, Help us to see as You
see and want what You want. Amen.
