The Trophy Wife

“He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.” Judges 1:12
We have all heard the term “Trophy Wife”. She is that woman of extraordinary public grace, poise, and beauty that makes every head turn when she enters a room. She is remarkable and memorable. As Helen of Troy, she has the face that launches a thousand ships. But Helen was an adulteress and is the basis for one of the great Greek tragedies. While we don’t know much about Achsah, the daughter of Caleb, who was given as a trophy to a military victor, we do know about God’s definition of a “Trophy Wife”.
Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” There is the trophy wife. She is virtuous, conscientious, loving, and caring. She loves God and her family. Men brag about their trophies, and God said men should brag about her; “Her husband also praiseth her.” Gentlemen, the best trophy we have is the godly woman God gave us. Let us never cease to praise her with our lips.

Dear Father, Let me give praise to the trophy You have given me. Amen.
