“{Lot’s}
wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” Gen.
19:26
Gentlemen, why do we always blame
the “little woman” for our ills? We too often remember Eve’s disobedience and
forget Adam’s collusion. We remember Lot’s wife and forget Lot. Scripture says
that Adam sinned first! Scripture says that Lot looked toward Sodom, moved near
to Sodom, and then dwelt in Sodom.
What we need to see is that we have
a responsibility as men. We need to lead our homes in a path of righteousness.
God has entrusted to men, if they are in the home, to lead in Scriptures, to
lead in an example of righteousness, to lead faithfulness to God at church. Our
churches are full of women who have to do what their husbands won’t do. They
have to take responsibilities that men should take and won’t. Then they are
accused of being “uppity” when they do. Adam sinned; Lot lusted; men are
busted. As we look at ladies who failed, let us remember that men were leading
the way by falling behind in their spiritual roles.
Dear Father, Help us all fully fill
the spiritual responsibilities we are given. Amen.
